Classroom Update for Week of November 16th

Hello Everyone!

Thank you so very much for the gift card to Nordstrom:) It's very appreciated! The best part were the cards from the kiddos and the sweet messages in them. I keep them throughout the school year and enjoy reading them from time to time. Thank you!

Thank you for taking the time to come in for conferences and learning about what your child is doing and how you can support them. I really enjoy getting the opportunity to speak with parents and talk about the progress that their child is making:)

We have a very busy week ahead of us...here is all you need to know;)

Monday: B Day (Technology)

Wednesday: D Day (Gym) Remember gym shoes if snow boots are worn to school!

Friday: A Day (Art)

REMEMBER TO SEND A WATER BOTTLE WITH YOUR KIDDO!

1. Thanksgiving lunch: The annual Thanksgiving lunch will be Friday November 20th. The 1st grade lunch time will be from 11:30-12:00. Please buy a ticket in the main office BEFORE Friday. On the day of the lunch report to the office for a visitor sticker and then go to the lunch room.

2. The annual WCE Turkey Trot will be Friday November 20th at 2:30. Parents are welcome to come and cheer kiddos on as we follow the chosen path around the grounds;)

3. NO SCHOOL November 23rd-27th Thanksgiving Break

4. Please check out the wall outside our classroom for the special project the kiddos did to honor our Veterans:)

5. Math: we will be continuing to "decompose" numbers as a strategy to solve addition and subtraction problems. Example: 9+5=___  I know that 5 can be broken into 4 and 1 I add the 1 to 9 to make 10 and then add the 4 to 10 to get 14. As always, this is just ONE strategy that kiddos can chose to use or not, depending on how their Math brain works:)

6. Social Studies: We will be gin our Geography unit this week. We will work on it for two weeks. Students will start with maps and their parts/vocabulary, as well as, making maps; of their bedroom, classroom, city, and state. We will also explore the globe. Students will do a final 3D map project with a small group to present to the class:)
