About Mrs. B. & Ms. Hernandez

I'm a Colorado native and resident of Park Hill where I live with my spoiled snowshoe siamese cat, Kitty Cat. I am the mom of three grown kids and one amazing grandson!
I am starting my 12th year of working at Westerly Creek where I began as a reading and writing paraprofessional for the first two years. I then left the next year to teach 5th grade Literacy and Language Arts at Waller K-8 in Green Valley Ranch. I returned to Westerly Creek in 2009 teaching first grade and, well, here I am! My career with DPS began in 1996 while my oldest was in second grade and I became a paraprofessional at her school. It was then that I knew working with children was my calling.
When I am not teaching I enjoy spending time in places that make me happy and places that are warm--the beach in Tulum, Mexico, the mountains in the summer, and my own home in front of the fire in the winter (although I still prefer the beach!).
Some of my favorite things are New Mexican food--reminds me of my late mother, yoga, watching my grandson grow up, Trader Joes, the smell of spring and summer blossoms in the air, riding my bike, hiking, summer, reading, the Broncos, and the Foo Fighters--be still my heart, Dave Grohl!

A little known fact about me--I have been a gestational surrogate twice, the first time in 2000 and then again in 2004. The latter was twins which was quite the experience!

I am enjoying getting to know your children, and I look forward to a wonderful year ahead with them and all of you!

All-About Mrs. Bryan-Doherty

I am originally from Minnesota but have been in Colorado for 16 years! Previous to living in Colorado and being a teacher, I lived in Los Angeles. I was a nanny for 10 years and worked for a wonderful family that lived part of the year in Germany and France. The ability to travel gave me valuable experiences that I treasure to this day. After being a nanny I knew that being a teacher was meant for me:) I taught kindergarten for two years and this is my 11th year teaching 1st grade. I have been at WCE for 9 years and feel at home and truly grateful to work with such amazing families. I LOVE 1st grade and all the energy and  excitement the students bring to the classroom daily!

When I am not teaching I am busy running after my energetic daughters, Sophia (a 3rd grader at WCE) and Lily (an ECE student at WCE). What an adventure it is to raise two girls! They sure make for constant daily entertainment and are a pure joy in my life. I also like to ski, hike, gardening, watching the Broncos, going to Target, getting pedicures :) and listening to Prince (I am from Minnesota, after all).

I am looking forward to an amazing school year filled with learning and laughter! I look forward to getting to know all of you and working together as a team for your child/children:)
