Classroom Updates for the week of February 27th...

 


*Specials change on Monday: Mrs. Bryan-Doherty's class switches to MUSIC (P.E. still on Thursdays) and Ms. Hernandez's class switches to ART (P.E. still on Fridays).

*Thursday is READ ACROSS AMERICA day to celebrate Dr. Seuss' birthday. If you would like to send a favorite Dr. Seuss book to school with your kiddo, please do. Students will have a couple times during the day to pause and read to take part in celebrating this favorite author's birthday:)

*Auction Project: Students will begin to work on class auction projects in the next couple of weeks. Class time will be used to complete these. Your child's homeroom teacher will reach out if volunteers are needed.

*Class Picture Day is February 28th! Order forms went home last week. If another form is needed, please stop by the office.

*Westerly Creek Variety Show

  • Can you dance? Sing? Act? Play an Instrument? Do you have jokes to tell?  Are you a magician? A gymnast? Do you know martial arts? Or were you meant to host the show? If you answered, “YES!” Come join the fun in our annual WCE Variety Show!!!
  • K-2nd Primary Variety Show- Thursday, March 16th 6:30pm cafeteria
  • 3rd-5th Intermediate Variety Show- Thursday, March 23rd 6:30pm cafeteria
  • Please read ALL of the details, rules, and dates on the attached form, and turn in the permission form to the box in front of the LIBRARY by MARCH 1st!!!! You DO have to audition. If you have any questions, please contact Mrs. Stacy.  Megan_Stacy@dpsk12.org 

*Report Cards:
  • Second Trimester report cards will come out on March 1.  We do not hold regular mid-year parent-teacher conferences but would be happy to meet with you upon request.

Classroom Reminders for the week of February 13th...

*Our new PSF (Personal Success Factor) for February is curiosity! Something we see a lot of in 1st grade:)

* 1st Grade is having a Specials Showcase Informance where they will be performing and informing you of what they are learning in Specials!! Please join us Thursday, February 23rd at 6:30pm in the cafeteria for their Specials Showcase!!  They will be sharing for the school the next day, Friday Feb. 24th at 10:00am.  If you have any questions or comments, please direct them to your Specials teachers!! THANK YOU!”

*New Specials rotation started this week:
      Mrs. Bryan-Doherty's homeroom has Art (Gym on Thursdays)
      Ms. Hernandez's homeroom has  Technology  (gym on Gym on Fridays)

*Valentine's Day Parties
  • Our classroom parties will occur on Tuesday, February 14th from 2:45-3:30.
  • Students will decorate a bag at school so there is no need to bring a box..
  • We prefer that students put their names in the FROM section of the valentines and leave the TO blank.  Having 26 1st graders read names and find the right bags would take days!  ;-)  
  • Students DO NOT have to give Valentines, but if they choose to, please send them in the morning as we'll be distributing them BEFORE the party. Thank you!!
